THE ARTIST. Born in Hubei Province in China and trained at Leeds Arts University, Wan Mae Dodd draws much of her inspiration from organic, natural objects, especially flowers – alliums, poppies, hydrangeas and cherry blossom – as well as pine cones and shells. Blue Poppies is part of a series of original paintings she created using acrylic paint on cartridge paper steeped in linseed oil, which creates a distinctive depth and sheen.
