This edition presents a selection of Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets, selected and annotated by the eminent Shakespearean scholar Samuel Johnson. The volume includes such classics as ‘Hamlet, ‘ ‘Romeo and Juliet, ‘ and ‘Macbeth, ‘ as well as lesser-known works such as ‘The Two Gentlemen of Verona’ and ‘The Winter’s Tale.’ Johnson’s notes offer insights into the historical and cultural context of Shakespeare’s writing.
