Her mother’s is one of work and duty whereas Marguerite ways are quite different. Anna’s father does not approve. Anna eventually makes her way to university and the beginnings of yet another kind of life. Peopel grow apart but the eventual deaths of both Marguerite and her father. The people from the old country assist at the funeral and the book closes with Anna’s regret, perhaps anger, at the breach that has been made with her traditions. Alison Lang’s new book, San DA’thaich Uir, will be the fifth publication in the Sandstone Meanmnach series of books proimarily aimed at advanced learners of Gaelic.
