Official synopsis Publisher

Attorney Billy Tapp finds himself simultaneously involved with three clients: court appointed Thackeray Frederick Johnson, a savvy career criminal from inner-city Baltimore charged with bank robbery; pro bono Terry Jacobs, an immature teenage kid who killed a drug dealer over an argument about a compact disc; and, Atlanta real estate developer Seymour Grey who is entangled with the federal government’s takeover of his Maryland shopping center project and its involvement with a Mexican drug cartel’s money laundering scheme.

The son of German immigrants, Billy has built an impressive resume. He graduated with honors from Georgetown Law School and clerked for the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. He also served in the U.S. Navy before law school.

While on track for partner at a prestigious law firm in Washington D.C., he was asked to leave after seducing an associate on the boardroom table during the firm’s annual Christmas party. Billy’s lack of traditional deference for the obligatory and often exaggerated courtesies inherent in the judicial system render him as much distained as revered.

Complicated by a strained relationship with his mother, his philandering and long nights at Clyde’s Bar contribute to an irresponsible and guilt-filled relationship with his ex-wife and their three children. Will Billy learn from his past to mesh with the system or has he already spoiled his chance at unlimited success by overplaying his hand?
