The Escobar family has a hard time coping with many problems after they are deserted by their father. Myanna, a young girl, is burdened with prophetic dreams about the fate of people she loves. Nick (Myanna’s brother), who has become the father figure in the family, does his best to help her and another sister Cecelia, who is dying from a ghastly disease.

Mama Escobar has an insane idea that she can nurse her oldest daughter back to health without any medical help. In the process, she forgets about the rest of her family. An elderly couple, Uncle Earl, and Aunt Josie, relieve Mama Escobar of her duties to the two younger children Myanna and Jeff. Uncle Earl’s Okie accent, and his comical antics provide the balance needed for the turmoil in the story.
