Juan Claudio-Rodríguez was born in San Lorenzo Puerto Rico. He is the fifth out of seven siblings born to Maria S. Rodríguez-Gonzalez and Juan Claudio-Martínez. At the age of seventeen he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was activated in July 1982. He received a medical pension from the military in 1996. He returned to Florida after his military discharge where he continued his collegiate education. He attended Florida Atlantic University where he received his undergraduate degree in Spanish with a minor in Latin American Studies and Ethics (2002), a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction (2004), and a second Masters degree In Educational Leadership in 2011. He taught ESOL at Indian River Community College as an Adjunct Professor and Spanish at Jupiter High School and South Fork High School for a period of more than 20 years. Today he continues to live in Florida where he is enjoying his retirement.
