Official synopsis Publisher

Happyland is the story of a young man coming of age in 60’s America. From Catholic school right on through the millennium, this is a collection of neighborhood stories about growing up in the city that will amuse and enthrall you. When compiling all the memories, challenges, and laughter from my youth, out of nowhere came the idea to actually document them and write THIS BOOK. I hope you will enjoy the actual stories herein, and have to catch your breath from laughter. It was a CRAZY time in the country, and even crazier where I was raised. It was a time when all Americans struggled through the Civil rights movement, the Vietnam WAR, and the challenges that were born out of the times. It is an amusing and disturbing tale, born on the back of napkins, paper plates, pizza boxes, and wherever else I could scrawl down the flood of life’s memories that came my way. The language is RAW, like the stories, and keep the feeling throughout the book REAL. Nuns, hippies, bums, boss, hip, cool, the fuzz, the music, the ice cream man, the junkies, drunks, hookers, whores, fire hydrants on that killer hot summer day, and the inevitable street fights that were born as the result of the social upheaval that was the day. The names have been changed to protect the guilty, and the innocent. Though the 60’s were an immensely difficult time for everyone, they bore fond memories of the way we lived our young lives. If you’re looking for a laugh, you just FOUND IT!! AWAY we go! Now entering HAPPYLAND…..
