As for what it’s actually about: I was tired of fantasy stories where the conflict was all very basic, good vs evil. I wanted to do a more character focused story. Flipside is mostly about the relationship between the two protagonists, and relationships in general. It’s also about conflicts that are not necessarily black and white, and this is where the title comes from. Maytag is a character who seems to be as black and white as her costume, at first, but upon closer examination there are many shades of gray. —
