Dorothy Hruby was blessed to have grown up in a loving and supportive family. She was blessed when she received salvation and accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour. And, she was blessed when she prayed for someone to teach her more about the Bible, salvation, and God and ended up meeting the love of her life; a Christian man who led a church youth group named George. Their love blossomed quickly, leading to marriage within a year of knowing one another. That love continued to flourish as they started a family right away and lived a life full of love, family, and faith.

Then came December 7, 2021… A day that would forever be etched in her memory and change her thirty-six-year marriage with George forever.

Finding Me: Heartbreak, Betrayal, and God’s Love shares Dorothy’s story of grief and healing after discovering her husband had sexually abused one of their own children without her knowledge. Blending storytelling along with journal entries she wrote, readers will witness the pain she endured from her perspective as she struggled with having to live with her husband after knowing what he had done, ultimately divorcing him. He was later sentenced and is now serving time in prison. She was left facing the struggle of overcoming heartbreak and finding herself.

It was God who carried her through. Dorothy knew God was her best and only choice, and by relying on Him, she found strength, hope for healing, and ultimately, what she was made of. Her story is a powerful witness of God’s love and grace. This is a story of hope to those who have endured tragedy of their own and a reminder that God will help anyone through the good, bad, and unthinkable for with Him, anything and everything is possible.
