FEMMES ET LIBERTINAGE 18 SIECLE

FEMMES ET LIBERTINAGE 18 SIECLE by PUR, published by PU RENNES on January 8, 2004, is a scholarly exploration of the often-overlooked feminine perspective within the context of 18th-century libertinism. This edition, written in French and spanning 150 pages, delves into the complex interplay between women and libertinage, challenging the traditional narratives that predominantly feature male figures. The book examines how women were integrated into the landscape of gallantry, often reduced to indistinct silhouettes overshadowed by their male counterparts.
Readers will find a thorough analysis of the practices and representations of women in literature during this period, aiming to reclaim their identities from caricatured portrayals. The work investigates the nuanced relationship between women and libertinism, highlighting the need to address both virtuous obscurations and fantastical constructions. By drawing on literary texts, archives, and engravings, this collective reflection seeks to illuminate the stakes and seductions of this new eroticism, offering insights into the historical and critical dimensions of women’s roles in 18th-century French literature.
