Official synopsis Publisher
When a mysterious egg appears in Duncan’s tree house, he has no idea what sort of bird is inside. When the baby bird hatches he is none the wiser — all he does know is that it has a very strange appetite indeed! One day, Duncan finds an enormous egg on the bed in his tree house. When it hatches he doesn’t recognise the bird inside from any of his books. He finds worms and caterpillars to feed it with, but it doesn’t seem to like them. Just when Duncan thinks he will never find anything that the bird wants to eat, he discovers that it likes cake. This is all very well while the bird is staying in his tree house, but when Duncan teaches it to fly, its rather peculiar appetite has disasterous consequences for the village tea party!
