Super epic bookstore! They have an insanely awesome selection of books in punk, poc and music history, and many of which are local based which is awesome to see, we love to see places supporting local artists!! They also have many locally made zines, magazines, and comics if you’re into that! I’m a big art guy so I had a ball flippin through all of those, even bought myself a little local punk based magazine to take home with me.nnSuper great vibe inside, got that chaotic/messy homey organization vibe to it if that even makes sense… they’ve also got a cat!! They also additionally sell handmade upcycled clothes and cool pins, and also local artist made sticker sheets n stuff.nnI’m also not from the area so when I talked to the store employees (who were also rad) they also gave me some good recommendations of more punk/alternative places for me to go which was awesome.nnEnded up taking that punk magazine and a Latin American stories book home with me, it was hard picking only those two since pretty much everything was up my alley of interests but very happy with what I got! 10/10 super cool place, check it out!

More than a radical bookstore, Village Works is a collaborative entity of artists, culture, and social inquisition. The timelessness of St. Marks is alive here, preserved in the creatives and the dreamers behind Village Works. You will find titles ranging from DIY underground publications to coveted first editions of renowned names (as well as resident artists' t-shirts, stickers, prints, originals, etc.)‒all of which have been curated with a deliberate emphasis on New York City's counterculture and resistance movements.nnDon't just voyeuristically pick through what's on top and then hurry to the next tourist trap of mass-produced souvenirs; everything you could ever want to bring home from New York is right here. We have an ethical and social obligation to support these vital community sanctuaries of information, engagement, and contemplation. Come in to pet Alley the Managpurr, stay for the atmosphere of hope, and leave with a transaction you can feel wonderful about for once.

Support places like village works. Such a unique curation of New York art. Excellent books and arts. Found a few local Poetry books!

One of my favorite book stores to stop by when I’m the neighborhood. The staff are filled with dope people who were really informed and passionate about their books and art work they got from local artists (shoutout to Dominic). Grab a coffee, check a book, pet the cat. Once you’re inside you’ll understand why this spot is special. They have local events that you can find on their IG page.

Very fun bookstore. It’s not easy to have bookstore business. But they offer so much more than just book. Not to mention their cute cat!
