I bought some Christmas gifts at Tugooh Toys (a book and a toy), and THE OWNER TRIED TO SCAM ME. Also, she acted very rude and disrespectful with me.nnFirstly, she passed through the cashier both products. After, she asked about my foreigner accent (yes, I wasn’t born in DC, but that doesn’t mean I’m not a Georgetown resident), and passed again one of the products already passed, and touched the screen “deleting one product” (the one she tried to scam me on, as I will explain below). Weird, for not making bigger accusations.nnSecondly, when I asked her for the possibility of wrapping up the gifts (the option is offer for free in the shop), she said no arguing that the gifts would “look ugly” because they weren’t a box (when one was a book), and complaining about the time (there were still several minutes before the closing). As a suggestion, it very rude to denied services to the customers and to complain while making a sale that benefits you.nnThirdly, she didn’t offer me the receipt. I needed to ask for it, and before leaving the shop, I realized she charged me another price that the one marked (she charged me the price for CAD that was higher, instead of the USA one). When I told her, she accepted it rudely, and started to complain about not being able to refund the money directly on my card because she wanted to close the shop.nnShe was repeating me all the time to hurry, when she was the one who needed to refund me the money she tried to scam. While rushing and complaining, she tried to give me one dollar less, even though she used the calculator to make the math.nnFinally, I was thinking in returning them because of the bad experience. However, they only refund is store credit. How convenient.nnHonestly, the last time. One of the worst experiences shopping ever in my life.

Fun experience for the kids and they spent about 30 minutes playing on the toy set on the lower level.nnGood and friendly customer service from the Lady at the till allowing the kids to explore as they wished.nnIt’s not a very large space but they manage to pack a lot in without it feeling cramped.nnPicked a few items and the prices for these were competitive and always love to shop at an independent store which I’m told this is.nnOverall great experience and only a 4 because of size and limited range. Will definitely go back with the children.

The store has a cute selection of toys, but the owner is rude and off putting. If you walk in with kids, they can’t touch anything without being immediately reprehended. It’s a toy store, naturally kids love to browse! On top of it, the prices are absurd (100+% markup over places likes Target or Amazon). As Georgetown residents we would have loved to support a local business, even for a premium, but the owner’s attitude turned us away for good.

The store is so incredibly organized and the staff is knowledgeable and very kind. They have immediately won over a loyal customer. Make sure to stop by if you’re in or around Georgetown.
