Spelman College Bookstore

Some girl with large glasses and a larger head manages to make this a poor experience for me every time I come to show love for my institution. The simplest task will result in her attitude. Avoid her if you’d like to enjoy your day.

3/29/25 I visited the store and was lost originally and called the store for assistance and it seemed as if I were a bother to the rep that picked up the phone. And so instead I asked strangers on the street for directions.nnUpon arriving to the store Deaja and peer were on the their personal phones and having a conversation and only paid mind to me to advise the store was closing. When I asked about T-shirts they stated they were upstairs, and when I asked if there was anyone upstairs for assistance they said no. The entire time I was in the store neither asked if I needed support or if I was looking for something specific.nnI would recommend reminding them that they are working not hanging out.

Can you have too much Spelman swag? Definitely not.

I would love to give this store 5 stars but one of the workers was very rude to me. I was visiting the campus and really loved the atmosphere and so I decided I couldn’t leave without a souvenir. I bought a pink Spelman sweatshirt and while I was still in line with two other people in front of me, the cashier who was an older gentleman yelled at me and told me I couldn’t pay for the sweatshirt upstairs and to go downstairs.nnI’m sorry I wasn’t aware, but there is a nicer way to inform someone of the rule. Luckily I received better service downstairs from the nice ladies, but I was slick about to put that sweatshirt back on the rack.

The staff in the bookstore are always very helpful and accommodating. The merch is unique but pricey; not sure if the bookstore sets the prices for everything.
