Despite its name, the religious (mostly Christian) nonfiction/research books only make up a small part of this excellent bookstore. This bookstore was massive and held an impressive collection of nonfiction, globally diverse and hard-to-find books. I found books here that I have never heard of before on a wide range of topics. I am already looking forward to returning!

This bookstore does not stock the popular titles that you can purchase at a Barnes and Noble or even alot of independent bookstores. This place is stocked with academic titles that focus mostly on the humanities and social sciences. A lover of the natural sciences, I didn't find much that really piqued my interest in terms of making a purchase. But, i really enjoyed browsing! They have a nice history section. Their fiction section is more equipped to entertain someone who enjoys true literature and prose as opposed to someone looking for a beach read. There is a cafe adjacent to the store. However, there was a long line, so i didn't get any coffee. But. I will gladly come back!

When I was isolated in grad school in Lexington Kentucky, I would make trips up here. It was as salvation. The world's best bookstore. Superb selection and equally magnificent staff.

This is a book lover's heaven. Books from small and large presses of all kinds of genres are neatly organized on shelves sheltered inside a well-lit space. I would spend hours of my life here if I lived in Chicago. Congratulations to all the staff for the excellent service and recommendations.

I placed an order for a deluxe limited edition book that was listed and pictured as this specific edition. The order seemed to be in limbo, not even processed, for 3 weeks. It was finally processed and shipped and showed up in a few days. When it arrived, it was not the correctly advertised edition of the book. I have emailed the company for this to be remedied and have not had any response. I am sad because I like to support smaller bookstores, but this has not been a great experience. If the retailer no longer had the book in stock due to their delay in processing my order, they should have called or emailed me, refunding my order. I guess I’ll have to see if I am out $40 for a book that can be purchased most other places for half the price.
