Powell’s Books Chicago

This is a pretty amazing jam located on the edge of the University of Chicago. I've been to its bigger location in Portland Oregon, (which takes up an entire city block,) this one has less space but just as much personality.nPowells is a must-sre destination if you're a book- lover & in this part of town, I always pick up a few books because I can't help myself, the selection is just so good

Every time I visit Chicago from St. Louis, I always stop by Powell’s. The staff is amazing and the prices are great. The best thing is the wide selection of used books available. This place needs to be on everyone’s radar.

Just before I gave a shot to tackling some overdue legal briefs, I stopped in here to browse. The atmosphere, with its towering shelves and hushed whispers, is exactly what I look for in a bookstore, it really invites you to get lost for a while. It's a fantastic spot to unwind and explore

Powell's is one of the best places in the world for used, good-condition, reasonably marked-down academic books. It's an absolute pleasure to spend an hour combing the shelves for great finds, they have a phenomenal collection and knowledgeable staff. I usually leave with 8-12 book for $120-200, a real bargain in the academic market, and it inspires my future course design. Some real treasures in there too.
