Newberry Bookshop

I am kicking myself for not taking photos in the Newberry Library shop because it was so fun in there and there were so many things that I adored. There were stuffed dragons, lots of sassy and cute finger puppets, gorgeous enamel pins, tons of really cool books (plenty related to the upcoming exhibition but a great assortment on all kinds of Chicago-related topics, book-lover stuff, and appealing titles for all ages). I ended up spending 20+ minutes alone just going through greeting cards and I ended up greeting a dozen fantastic cards for all occasions. I could have easily bought twice that and I’m sure I’ll be back for more.nThe customer service was lovely and engaging. I really got the sense that the staff is happy to be there and excited to discuss literature and culture with anyone. I get the feeling that not enough people are even aware that there’s an inspired gift shop in the Newberry— folks should check it out!

Small but with lots of exhibit-related books and other paraphernalia

Best bookstore in town! This bookstore has lots of historical titles, quality selection with excellent review. Buy some Chicago or Newberry library souvenirs here. Friendly staff who can even order a book for you if you are willing to wait a coupla weeks.

A wonderful store–a really well-curated selection of books and gifts. Some are classic, some are funky, all are interesting. Plus they have an amazing selection of greeting cards.
