The first time I visited Monstera's Books, it felt a little bit like I'd been transported into another world — an older, slower time where people know their neighbors and answer the landline. It quickly became one of my favorite spots in Kansas City. They've curated a gorgeous space with an attention to detail that adds up to a whole experience, but it's more than just a pretty place. The people who work here have heart and grit, and it shows. They know books — they've helped me find new personal favorites and the perfect gifts. They host book clubs and cool events that bring people together, like craft nights and puzzle competitions. When so much is run on digitized algorithms, the people of Monstera's Books have created something truly special.

Monstera’s Books is an amazing independent bookstore! The staff is so kind and helpful. They have put a lot of work into the store to make it homey and welcoming. The displays and staff recommendations are unique and intriguing. I especially love the romance and children’s section. It is clear that a lot of thought goes into ordering wonderful books for the community. Oh and the plants! The plants are lovely. I also enjoy all the trinkets and bookmarks to pick from.
