Finally checked out Lost Avenue after noticing a few months back that a new bookshop had opened up on MLK!nnI got a book I've been eyeing for a while (which had only recently been brought in, my timing was great!) and my friend found a record he'd not seen anywhere else before and bought it on the spot. I was also delighted to see the spotlight on some lovely photography in a little gallery space!nnLovely bookseller I got the chance to talk with, as well. They even made a point to put on a mask when they noticed my group was masked up, which I especially appreciate as a chronically ill individual with an infant. Excited to return with some other friends who I know will enjoy!
Favorite bookstore in Portland. Yes, Powell’s is bigger, but that’s not the point here; Nate and the crew make Lost Avenue a superbly curated space with *only* excellent selections. Feels like they add more books and records each time I go in. Lots of options for translated works, which turned me on to several authors who weren’t on my radar.nnIt feels as much like a community space for book and record lovers as it does a shop. I’ve gotten several recommendations from Nate and other staff and walked away happy with my buys every time.nnIf you’re visiting Portland and want to experience what makes this city a “literary city,” stop by Lost Avenue.
This bookshop is a gem— so so well curated. Don’t know what to read next? Go here. Just save the art section for me. I will need to read every book.
this is a super well curated bookstore, lovely selection with many classics as well lots of neat contemporary stuff. some non fiction, but i think predominately fiction. owner was very sweet, asked if i needed any recommendations etc. i highly encourage supporting them!
I am not a book reader by any means but stumbled upon this gem. LIKE SERIOUSLY, I AM A CONVERT. IT IS SO COZY AND DYNAMIC!!nYou all really hit the nail on wonder and old school awesomeness.nLove all parts of this place.
