I only came here to buy, so I cannot comment on selling here, which seems to be the topic of most of the negative reviews. But if you are looking to browse books (or DVDs or music), this was a good experience. The staff were friendly and willing to give recommendations. I have been to most of the HPB in DFW, and I visit four locations on a regular basis. HPB Ridgmar’s selection is on the bigger side, enough that the categories get as specific as “quilting” and “Texas football.” (In other words, there are a zillion books here). Honestly, it’s a bookworm’s delight. I found several books and DVDs from my to-read/to-watch lists. This HPB location also ranks toward the top in cleanliness and organization (books kept in alphabetical order and easy to find despite constant client browsing). The children’s area is clean and inviting, with stuffed toys to entice kids in. The store also has a few tables and chairs, which I appreciate more the older I get.
They make the most low ball offers on books ever. You're better off donating them to goodwill. Brought in several books nearly 200 years old and they couldn't even offer $20. Of course the wouldn't tell me how much my offers were for the individual books. They just want to take ALL your books then throw pennies at you. This place sucks.
My favorite place to pass time. I always find the book resource I'm looking for at this store. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Highly recommend a visit.
one of those places where you can say oh it used to be great back in the 00s or the 10s and here we are mid 20s and it's kind of fallen of overall. I mean they still have plenty of neat finds and hidden gems here and there but again it's not as good price wise as they used to be.
Love the books and atmosphere, that being said the only thing I have an issue with is the books that come in a series. It's very hard to locate the beginning of a series when it's listed by authors only. I have on more than one occasion accidentally picked up a book in the middle of the series not knowing the order they were published. If anyone has tips or tricks please let me know! 😜
