Green Apple Books

A second-hand bookstore curated with love and knowledge is one of the high points of human civilization. This is one of those magical places.nI was in San Francisco for just two days and made it a point to come here again.nTo the staff, a traveler's gratitude — you made a stranger feel at home.

Back in high school, 25 years ago, I often visited this bookshop after school. When I returned home in 2017, I was amazed to find it still standing and as special as ever! I stopped by recently to browse countless books and made a purchase. Despite reading digital books during the pandemic, I still miss the smell of books and turning pages with my fingers! ✨💪🏼✨📚✨📖✨nnAnd all the staff are so kind and friendly.

One of three outstanding bookstores I can name in San Francisco, and the one I visit the most by far. Today I took my 9 and 11 year old goddaughters and we all found something before the meter ran out.nnI’ve already read Paul Kingsnorth’s brilliant, incisive new Against the Machine and I was glad to see the book displayed prominently. Required—and delightful—reading!

Great variety of books from cooking to philosophy. The store is way bigger than it seems and all books have their nice sorted sections. Workers here are very kind checking up on you if you need help, but still give you space to shop. I wasn’t able to buy any books here yesterday but I am planning on it in the future!nI also think the variety of used and new books are great all used are in near perfect condition!

There are lots of little nooks to read, and they have multiple sections of both used and unused books. Outside the front they have $1.00 books.
