I've said it before and I'll say it again—I love how the San Diego area is filled with funky used bookstores and book lovers everywhere! D.G. Wills Books in La Jolla is a fantastic find. The place is packed with eclectic books, and I spotted several author readings advertised, which is always a bonus. It has that perfectly cluttered, literary charm that makes you want to browse for hours. I love it!

Came here with 2 family members and we all left quite disappointed. I have never felt so uncomfortable because of someone as I did when I came here because of the owner. Such a shame since I was so excited to find a bookstore and looking to buy about 10 books, and because of how uncomfortable he made me feel, ended up changing my mind instantly. My family felt the same way and left the bookstore because of the “weirdness” of the man. It was like he didn’t want anyone touching or even looking at anything, honestly a childlike attitude but creepier since he’s way older than one. I understand the need to keep order and I certainly abide by it, but the way he acts with customers and talks to them is straight up rudeness and impoliteness. As if he was never thought how to act socially. It’s such a pity to have such an amazing job and business only to ruin its image with that personality.

A true bookstore gem. Selling new and used books, this is the kind of place you could lose a few hours perusing the bookshelves. The owners are delightful and very helpful, and have been in the book business for over 40 years. Every corner of this unique shop is filled to the brim, with an extensive and unique collection of books. They definitely don't make them like this anymore.

Spent a dream of an hour here reminiscing with D G about writers, books and old movie stars. Meanwhile my daughter hunted finds with a passion. Have been coming here more than 40 years and it never gets old. Even though I do.

Really cute little shop! Was a tad bit too expensive for me to buy much, but it was worth just looking around the maze of books. They’ve got some amazing rare books that I’m sure are worth it for avid collectors. The workers were great at explaining how the shop worked. Felt like they didn’t like young people too much from a few snide comments about phones and people not putting books back, but they weren’t meant to be hurtful and I can’t blame them 😭 I tried to be a good example
