BOOKOFF Costa Mesa Store

I really want to like this BOOKOFF, because I enjoy browsing anime merch, figures, and Gunpla/model kits — but this location left me pretty disappointed.nnThe biggest issue is pricing. A lot of anime figures were $40–$70, and some were over $100, which feels wildly inflated for a resale store. The Gunpla/model kits also felt overpriced, which is frustrating as a collector who was hoping to pick up more than just one or two items.nnAnother problem is organization. The book genres aren’t categorized clearly, and I had to search shelf after shelf just to find the fantasy section. Better signage and section labeling would make a huge difference.nnMost importantly, I’m really bothered by the pencil writing on book pages (pricing marks). That damages the book and ruins the experience — and for me personally it’s also extremely triggering because I have a serious phobia of pencils/lead. Please switch to removable stickers or a non-damaging pricing method.nnI still found a couple things, but overall this store really needs improvement on pricing, organization, and book condition.

Every time I come to this store I end up spending hours just combing through the DVDs and Blu-Rays. They also have video games, books, manga and tons of Funko.nPrices on books are pretty fair. Blu-Ray and 4K discs are a bit pricey, but DVDs can be affordable.nYou can also find some great steals. I got all of Seinfeld on DVD for $40. I also got the first season of 30 Rock for $2.nFriendly staff as well!

Can never really go wrong with them. Only issue I have is that some pricing is questionable. Some books are priced higher than original prices and I could not find a reason why. For those I'll just buy new instead. Still there bargain section is amazing and the anime/ Manga section is fantastic.

They have a wide selection of genres including a huge selection of anime and manga with the books, cards and figurines to go with them. They buy and sell most collectibles, so you have the potential of finding a rare or special item to complete your set. The friendly staff and clean store makes it easy to find anything.

Just awesome! I was in town for business and needed to kill some time. I was able to find some classic movies and some cool books and games.nYou have to look through everything! If you want to find the thing you want. But you could score big.
