Big Hill Books

Oh this place is so amazing!!!!' Please please come visit. They had a very wide variety of books & genres to choose from, and theyre all clearly labeled! Books even have a bookmark to tell if it is based in Minnesota/mentions Minnesota, or has LGBTQ+ included! I've never seen a bookstore do this before and I'm so impressed with the innovative idea. One of the best parts of this store (other than the books) are the kitties!!!!!! Two lovely cats, Goose & Adso roam around the store and keep you company while you browse for your new favorite read. These kitties are so adorable and sweet! Give them gentle pets and they'll just purr away. Just check out the videos I included, you'll see how sweet these babies are. No need to be scared. If they don't have a book you're looking for, theyre always happy to order it for you to pick up! They also seem to have a book club that they host every once in a while that I overheard the lady at the front desk talking about. Being in this area makes me feel so safe, seen, and ready to crack open a new book!

I first heard about this bookstore because of their community involvement – what’s not to love about that?! I asked for recommendations for myself and my middle grade kids, particularly local authors. I already enjoyed one of the books and am laughing my way through a second recommendation. I’m grateful for different authors because the algorithms have been suggesting books I’ve already read. Thanks for shaking it up for me!

This is the CUTEST book store. The atmosphere is so nice–there are comfy chairs around, a small stage, and cozy rugs to sit and pet the cats. I love the staff suggestions, the zines, and the overall selection of books. Even better–they use their space to host community events frequently including open mic nights and book clubs! The only thing I can be sad about is that I don't live closer!

One of the best local bookstores we’ve been to in quite some time 🙂 The people who work there are friendly and easily approachable (including the two resident tuxedo cats). As a teacher, I journeyed to the children’s literature section and was pleasantly surprised! Lots of classics mixed with new and local authors, as well. The store is quaint, well designed, and welcoming to all. You wouldn’t want to miss it!!!
