Black Queer Hoe by Britteney Black Rose Kapri, published by Haymarket Books in 2018, is a 55-page exploration of the complexities surrounding sexual freedom and exploitation. This debut work presents a bold and unapologetic perspective on the intersections of identity, sexuality, and power, particularly as they relate to Black Queer women. The language is direct and impactful, aiming to challenge societal norms that often restrict the autonomy of women.

In this collection, readers will encounter a nuanced discussion of women’s sexuality as both a source of empowerment and a tool for oppression. Kapri’s voice resonates through the pages as she navigates fraught questions of reclamation and self-definition in a world that frequently denies Black Queer women the right to assert their own boundaries. The work contributes to ongoing dialogues within poetry and LGBTQ literature, making it a significant addition to contemporary discussions on race and gender.
