A Second Helping

A Second Helping by Linda Anne Monica Schneider, published by AuthorHouse in October 2004, is a collection of short stories that serves as a continuation of the author’s previous work, Slice of Life. This edition features 368 pages and is presented in English. The book includes three original stories from the first volume, alongside ten new tales, creating a total of thirteen stories that explore whimsical questions and scenarios.
Readers will find a variety of narratives that delve into familiar fairy tale characters and themes, such as the motivations behind Snow White’s choices and the lives of her children after their “happily ever after.” The collection also addresses intriguing topics like the reasons behind people’s preferences for stuffed animals versus real pets, and the thoughts of mice regarding dog food. Aimed at children and the young at heart, this book offers a playful exploration of imagination and curiosity.
Official synopsis Publisher
This book is meant to be the second part of Slice of Life. If you liked the first goodies, I hope you will enjoy these. I included three of the original stories to clarify some points and correct errors A Story of Two Dolls; The Three Little Pigs According to Nana; and Snow White and the “House of Seven”–, and I added ten more, which makes thirteen, a “baker’s dozen”. Some of the questions I tried to answer here are: why did Snow White eat the apple? What happened to her children after “happily ever after?” Why do people collect stuffed animals but prefer real pets? What do mice think about climbing into dog food bags, or how to guide dogs feel when they retire? And what kind of a world might we have if people lived a long, long time? As with most desserts, this collection may appeal more to children and to the young of heart.
