Editorial overview Touché

A Clinician’s Guide to Arteriogenesis by Taryn Solomon, published by Hayle Medical on September 19, 2023, is a comprehensive exploration of the process of arteriogenesis, which involves the increase in the diameter of arterial vessels. This edition, comprising 236 pages, delves into the mechanisms behind arterial development, including the roles of pericytes and smooth muscle cells (SMCs) and their origins from various anatomical structures. The book provides a detailed overview of the mechanical and chemical simulations associated with arteriogenesis, emphasizing the physiological changes that occur during this process.

Readers will find that this book sheds light on the less-explored aspects of arteriogenesis and highlights recent research in the field of internal medicine. It serves as a valuable reference for a diverse audience interested in medical books, particularly those focused on the intricacies of arterial development and the factors influencing it. The content is designed to enhance understanding of the biological and mechanical factors that contribute to arterial health, making it a pertinent resource for clinicians and researchers alike.

Official synopsis Publisher

Arteriogenesis is the increase in the diameter of arterial vessels. The process of development of arteries is supplemented by the migration of pericytes and smooth muscle cells (SMCs) from the epicardium. Majority of the SMCs of the coronary artery stem from the epicardium, however, SMCs of proximal coronary arteries originate from the neural chest. In terms of mechanical simulation, arteriogenesis is associated with elevated pressure which intensifies the stress on the radial wall, and elevates the flow which then intensifies the stress on endothelial surface. The diameter is increased by the vessel until the normalization of the stress. In terms of chemical simulation arteriogenesis is associated with upregulation of cell adhesion and cytokines receptors. The book aims to shed light on some of the unexplored aspects of arteriogenesis and the recent researches in this area of study. It will serve as a reference to a broad spectrum of readers.
