Official synopsis Publisher
Nearly 90 years of living is compressed into the brief pages of this book. I am sure that, had I been granted the time and the patience, it could have been expanded a great deal. But my career has been in journalism, my first love since I was 10 yearsold, and the various professors and editors with whom I have worked all emphasizedthe virtues of brevity, so my readers are left with a fairly brief resume of what hasgone on in my life. The time span is interesting – from the halcyon pre-war days in England, to theearly days of WWII when Britain stood alone against the Germans, and the entry of the U.S. into the war and Americans into my life. Followed, of course, by my departurefrom my beloved homeland to the more friendly climate of my adopted home in Florida. It hasn’t been dull. I have met and worked with wonderful people in wondrousplaces. I have been blessed with adventures to satisfy anyone, and I hope at least some of them will be remembered because they are recorded here. I am so grateful to the staunch friends who have tolerated my eccentricities andjoined in my adventures. I remember my families – both in England and in the States -with love and affection and I hope that at least for a while the book will serve toensure that I am not altogether forgotten. God bless you all.
