This book tells the story of a group of young men from Anoka County, Minnesota, who enlisted in the National Guard and were sent to France during World War I. Drawing on letters, diaries, and interviews, the author provides a vivid picture of the experiences of these soldiers – from training in the United States to fighting on the Western Front. The book also includes photographs and maps. A touching tribute to the sacrifices of the ‘doughboys’ of 1917-18.
