Official synopsis Publisher

The Long Way Home is the story of Larry Edwards. A working class man with a high school education, Larry has two big problems. That he knows of. One is his headstrong nephew, Anthony, whom Larry must raise after Anthony loses his parents. This is difficult for Larry because of his second problem. He isn’t married, never has been married, and has no idea how to raise children. At the same time, Larry must deal with his increasingly obsolete job skills in a Rust Belt town in 1980’s Michigan. Increasing alcoholism, unemployment, and depression lurk over Larry’s life, ready to pounce. Just when Larry’s given up hope of a regular family, he meets Anna Nicholson, a ray of light piercing the darkness of his bleak life. Anna has some skeletons of her own, however and when mixed with Larry’s the combination threatens to wreck their relationship before it can save them both.
