Eclipse is a very interesting account of a white couple (John and Patricia Smith) who has amassed lots of wealth. John is a tycoon!John and Patricia are living a life of eutopian delight. However, one thing is missing – they have not been blessed with a child. John and Patricia are Christians and believe in the Biblical Passage: “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” (Ecc. 3:1). This is their faith; This is there hope! After fifteen years of marriage, their season comes and Patricia is pregnant. They are exhilarated! The good news is announced in their Church, and they give a lavish party in celebration of their forthcoming son!It seems like many lifetimes, but the day of delivery finally comes. John is in the Waiting Room waiting for the good news. He is taken to see his wife and son and discovers that his son is Black! John is hysterical and declares that he is not the father of a Black child. He accuses Patricia of having an affair with a Negro, but the results of three DNA tests, declare that he (John) is the baby’s father. Despite the DNA tests, John contends that he is not the baby’s father and this causes a schism in the family. However, as the story unfolds, unbeknownst to John, he employs his son as CEO of the Home Branch of his (John’s) Enterprise.The Book is written in playwright format to give the characters in the Book a real-life effect, to make the drama unfold more naturally, and to make the Book more interesting to read.
