Powell's has become a machine, though I admit still a worthwhile tourist attraction. But if you want a really good bookstore with heart this is one not to miss.

Another great Portland bookstore, the owner was very kind, selection was great, prices were reasonable. Would highly recommend. Thank you!

A lovely local haunt. I will forever spend my money in local shops that allow me to bring my dog inside. They have some incredible unique finds. Topics ranging from maritime to Asia, to PNW, metaphysics, cooking, crocheting, children’s, (actually a really cool selection of kids books) I feel like if you have subject in mind you will certainly find something interesting. Their back room is quadruple compared to their sales floor. It gives a sort mystical magical “oooo what’s back there?” vibe and I love it. They said it’s overstock, to-be-shelved, online catalog, etc. I’m pretty sure there’s like elves or dragons or pots of gold. But who’s to say?

A rare treat!nnUsed book stores like this seem few and far between nowadays. Well organized, friendly and knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices, and you can’t beat that secondhand book smell.nnDo yourself a favor, come here and browse the books, maybe pick up a pastry from Ken’s around the corner on your way out.

If you have some good-high quality books to sell, I suggest taking them here before Powell's. I've bought and sold books in a particular field for years and sold a small group to Daedalus last week. They gave me a great price in cash, which Powell's no longer does either (their purchase amounts are small and are only given as credit at the store). And this store has the vibe of an old-fashioned used bookstore with very nice owners. Not many of these left.
