We stopped by to sell 2 books that have been in the family for 3 generations. We did our homework first, researching the value of each book using multiple sources, including Abe Books and how much they have previously sold for on eBay just to name a couple. We included taking into account the condition as well as how sought after the books are. One is valued at $115, while the other $90. We know Half Price Books needs to make a profit and thought an offer of $50-75 for both was very reasonable. Yet they insulted us by offering, are you ready for this? $1! Yes, one lousy dollar. I have never been so insulted! It would have been better so simply say that they weren't interested, they already had too many used books to unload, or they already have these in inventory. How insulting to offer a measly buck for 2 books valued at over $200! We will NEVER return.

Lots of new and used books! Found some great gems for a very nice price, this is an excellent place for collectors to check out!

I ordered and purchased a book and it was being delivered from one of the Texas stores. The text to say it had arrived said the book was damaged and they were going to give me a refund and the book. And they did just that. I used the refund to buy more books. Everyone I've interacted with there have always been nice and helpful.

This is one of my favorite stores! It’s fun to go in and see what new things they have for board games and videos games as their inventory changes almost daily.nnThe kids section is also really good with a great selection of books for all ages and a wonderful clearance section where you can find lots of great books for very cheap.nnSelling to them is relatively quick! It usually takes 30-45 minutes for them to go through an IKEA bag full stuff but typically I drop it off first and look around so time flies by. The offer is usually on the low side but selling in bulk is a fast way to clear unwanted books and games from your shelf fast.

Great selection and store setup. I feel that their organization and floor plan has a much better flow than some other HPB stores I've visited.nnThis last visit, though, we ended up leaving before we were really finished looking at the areas we wanted to.nnThe store wasn't super busy with customers, but you could tell there was an urgency with the employees to move product.nnOne employee was rushing back and forth, from the buying counter to placing a stack of books on the clearance shelves. Myself, my daughter and a couple gentlemen were looking at that section. The employee was rushing in front of us sometimes, behind or around us other times. It was chaotic enough that I didn't feel very comfortable or welcomed. It actually felt like WE were in his way. This made it too hard to leisurely browse,as you never knew where he was going to go.nnI understand urgency when (re)stocking products at a retail level. My personal experience of getting product onto the shelves in retail businesses was ALWAYS to not be in the customer's way. Whatever you were doing, you got out of the customer's way so that they could shop.nnWe still purchased a bunch of books, but would have definitely bought more if I hadn't felt rushed or like a bother.
