It was incredible visiting The Newsroom in Washington, DC. We had just dined at the Vietnamese restaurant next door, and decided to pop inside The Newsroom to satisfy the word lovers inside us, and we weren’t disappointed.nnSteven was quite kind, and his curiosity only made our visit more memorable. There are books and newspapers and magazines of all kinds and from different times. It’s a trip down memory lane, with memories of Obama to Al Gore to Rachel Carson and so much else. And the icing on the cake was Steven showing us the newspapers he’s collected over the years in the levels below.nnWe spent around 2-3 hours perusing the eclectic collection, and chatting with Steven. At a time when print media has been dwindling, The Newsroom provides a lot of hope for lovers of the print(and written word) like me. People like Steven are keeping that hope alive. I highly recommend visiting here if you’re in the area.nnI agree that the organization of books inside the store can be better, but for us that was part of the fun exploring and figuring things out.nnParking nearby is street parking. We left the store chuffed with a huge selection of books and magazines.

One of the best hidden gems in all of DC. They offer a wide array of popular magazines such as the New Yorker, Atlantic, Vogue, Rolling Stone, The Economist, ELLE, GQ, and countless more—some even with international iterations. Their prints are very up to date, and I’ve been able to find copies of the New Yorker, Vogue, Atlantic, and Rolling Stone immediately after the print was published.nnAmazing selection of newspapers, too—both national and local. This is a great place to find the daily prints from the New York Times, Washington Post, Washington Times, and Wall Street Journal, etc. Definitely an awesome place for fans of print media.

I walked in this store to buy a book I had in mind, and when I walked in I saw a Nora Roberts book that interested me, so I took it up. I went up the stairs to the counter to check out and ask about the book I was looking for. I said hello to the Black man sitting there. He sat in silence, looking at me like I was a ghost or apparition. I wondered if he had some disability, it was that strange. I repeated, kindly, “I said hello.” And he responded, in a clear and intelligent voice, “I said hello.” He did not. I was looking at him the entire exchange. I responded, “I didn’t hear you at all.” Put the Nora Roberts book down, and walked out. I do not recommend patronizing this store.
