Such a pleasant experience coming here. A warm vibe to walk around, and flip through books for an hour (or more if you’d like)! When you come here, you know what you are coming for. Notable mentions: the PLP, free literature to read and take home, plethora of posters and stickers to fit your needs and wants.
I frequented Bound Together Books in the '90s when they sold many copies of my zine. Checking out there website, I see the place has been around since 1976. Strolling down Haight, where I often crashed at a friend's pad back when, little was recognizable. I'm sure hippies felt the same way wandering that street in the '90s. One of the few places that seemed to not have changed at all is Bound Together, which still has several shelves allotted to zines. I'll admit anarchist and political tomes are not something I read a lot of anymore. But this volunteer-run spot would be the place to find radical theoretical whathaveyou and they have used sections of fiction and non-fiction in the back. I recall once seeking out anarchist bookstores throughout Europe and there were quite a few. I wonder how many are left in this country.
Cool bookstore for the anarchist, outlaw (outside the law) free thinker type.nAdded about ten lbs to my suitcase and had to struggle to close it due to the books I purchased.nReally enjoyed my visit!
I would liketo extend my upmost gratitude PLP c/o Bound Together Bookstore for there contributions to all walks of life not only did I receive literature while away but a kind reply. All I can say is how much more I can enjoy reading with my freedom.
This bookstore is run by volunteers. It offers free pamphlets/newsletters and is well organized. The decor is stellar to look at and the book selections are interesting. They also have a program where you can donate books to prisoners.
