Austin Books Sidekick Store

I don’t have the best things to say about this place. Yes, they have a huge inventory. However, nothing is initially priced. They have you bring it up and then figure out how much they’re worth. Their pricing is highly inconsistent as evidenced by finding multiple copies of the same book with a price range of $10 to $40 – all in nearly identical condition. So they’re clearly not using a consistent pricing model or market value. Regardless, they’ll call this a “discount price”, which almost always can’t compete with market values established on eBay / online pricing.nnBasically, you’re finding gems for them to sell – you do the work for them.nnSome (very few) discounts are worth it but from a batch of 13 books over about 4 hours of digging, I walked out with 3.nnOne positive: Their Labor Day sale was great! However, I really wish they had $1, $2, $3, and $5 bargain bins. It’s something my favorite stores have had as mainstays. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find that anywhere in the greater Austin area that isn’t Half Priced Books.

Great place for manga, anime, comics and collectibles. The prices are amazing, the staff was great and they’ve a big variety of books. Everything was organized, clean and easy to locate. The only con was the lack of air conditioner, it was crazy hot in there and I wasn’t able to check the place for a little longer because of that. But great store overall!

VERY good prices with informative, interactive, and helpful staff. This store appears to be a store that branches off of another store (which was nice as well). However, this one had what we wanted and at the right price!

Some of the cheapest comics I've ever seen! Most comics go for only half their originally marked price, or sometimes just under a dollar. Not the kind of place to go for toys, but if you like older comics, then this is the store to get them. I just wish the store looked a little nicer and the comics were better organized.

Great place for manga and classic comics and collectibles! Staff was friendly and willing to help ( even right around closing time) which says so much about their costumer service! Cool place!
