Official synopsis Publisher

Super Brady: Always on the Move! is the third in a series of books written and illustrated by children for other kids about having a friend with a disability. Brady is challenged by autism, Mikayla was born with a brain injury, and Jeffrey has Down syndrome, but their books are about much more than the main characters or their disabilities. They are about friendship. And kindness. After the success of Our Friend Mikayla and High Fives and A Big Heart (titled by his friends to describe Jeffrey), we wanted to work with kids on another book about having a friend with a different type of disability. With the increasing prevalence of autism, most everyone knows or loves someone “on the spectrum.” Perhaps you might want others to appreciate what that means, or learn more yourself? In keeping with out belief in children and their unique ability to best present information for other kids their age and developmental level, we were eager to give Brady and his friends the opportunity to explain. Autism seems so complicated and hard to understand, but these young authors keep it simple. Not just for children, their book is a great place to start for anyone seeking better understanding. They describe autism as “a disability that often makes it hard to communicate.” And the “spectrum?” It simply means “No one person has the same type of autism.” Revealing his friends’ true understanding, acceptance, and appreciation for Brady, their story gives teachers and parents a springboard for further discussion about diversity, inclusion, friendship, and kindness. Super Brady: Always on the Move! was donated to every third, fourth, and fifth grade class across two counties, and to every public elementary school in Pennsylvania.
