Out With the Tide

Labor Day weekend of 1981, Caroline Carter visits an area near Charleston, South Carolina. She uses her Southern charm to capture the heart of J.P. Andersen, a New Jersey Yankee of Danish extraction. Distance and doubt complicate their relationship as well as Caroline’s haunting thoughts of her father’s death; the trauma that has left her with a fear of intimacy. Her emotional conflicts are understood by a good looking international student, Joost Van Ness, a Dutchman who grew up in an affluent home in Spain, but was orphaned as a teen.
