Miss Savannah

When reading books Miss Savannah had laughed out loud, cried, felt pain and the deepest love and smiled at the wonderment of being creative enough to pull someone into the story unfolding. The pages of books were a cherished labor that could have taken years to write or had been a quick thought or idea that evolved into the most wonderful tale. To have the ability to write like that overwhelmed her. She often wondered if, when the time came that she could no longer see well enough to read the written word, if she would be able to take up one of the books and just by touching it relive what she had read. They were full of memories; wonderful memories. She knew all she need do was pick one of them up or touch one and the characters and places leapt vividly into her mind. The heat of a desert, the frigid climate of the north, the humidity of the tropics, feeling the roll of a ship on the high seas with the salty spray misting on her face or the warmth and comfort of a drawing room with a fire kindled in a fireplace warming the velvet upholstered furnishings. The characters spoke to her telling her their stories and what wonderful tales they wove. Over the years she had collected thousands of books and the time had come for her to find a place for them to live. At last locating a home for her books she also found a place in her life for so many things that had been missing. This is one of the best “feel good” books you will read in a long time. Miss Savannah is a character you’ll not soon forget.
