Winning Without Victory

Winning the freedom to love, to live, to choose, to cherish, to heal, to reach beyond the marriage institution to enrich it; to courageously seek greater happiness, liberty, peace and joy in the world, leaves no one vanquished in the wake. It used to be called the Principle of the Common Good, The Advantage of the Other, or General Welfare. Except, who cares about the universal good in a world of darkness, greed, poverty, terror, and war? Isn’t love something rare, that we put on a rose leaf and keep reserved for special occasions, or utilize with a smile that we parade for a purpose, or reserve as an emotion that we must hide when it is not convenient or is not allowed? Indeed, we sooner build empires, which are built by force than by love, universally. Then we always cry like frightened children when the structures of insanity that we hail, threaten to send us the nuclear bomb. Is it too late then, to love? Can we love while we close our eyes, like the tyrants do that are too blind to see? The Principle of Universal Love is one of the great principles of the universe that enables the realization of dreams, even those that we might not yet have dared to dream, except in sex and erotica where we let the eyelids droop nevertheless. Can we really win in this world a great good without leaving a trail of the vanquished behind us? It seems we can, with the Principle of Universal Love.
