The world of tomtes that Birgit learned about as a child is the subject of her stories, and through her stories, she hopes to share a little Scandinavian culture with others. Her tomte friends are a bit mischievous, but always loving.
Each tomte family is assigned to a human family. Their job is to help and watch over the family, homestead, and animals. Because tomtes are shy around humans, they most often are not seen, but they are busy and hardworking.
