Rendezvous with Jesus by Duane C. Peterson, published by Trafford Publishing in 2006, is a work of fiction that intertwines themes of religious exploration and city life. The narrative follows Troy, a college student studying paleontology, who uncovers dinosaur footprints alongside human prints during a field trip. Official synopsis Publisher
While on a university-sponsored field trip, Troy, a young college student of paleontology discovers dinosaur footprints in the ancient lakebed where the dig site is located. To his surprise he also finds unmistakable human footprints with the dinosaur prints. His professor isn’t as excited as Troy is about the find, in fact the professor would rather that Troy’s discovery never be made known to anyone.
To make matters worse for the young student, his girlfriend, Becky while on winter break had a “born again” experience and returns to college a changed person. In order to win her back to their former lifestyle, Troy has to prove that Christianity is nothing more than ‘gilded paganism’. Troy goes on a quest to prove his human footprint with dinosaurs footprints are real, and win back Becky. While on his quest Troy and Becky run afoul of the Wahwonyonkah, the Indian Tribe whose reservation the dig site is next to. The Tribe is guarding an age-old secret that few whites have seen and lived to tell about. White Feather, one of the tribal elders is determined that the secret will be kept, even if it means murdering the inquisitive college student.
Another group of beings are watching the human activity with keen interest. “The Watchers”, divided into two camps; each swearing loyalty to their own recognized leader. One group gives their loyalty to the creator of heaven and earth and the other group to Lucifer, the self-proclaimed ruler of the earth. Each group does whatever is possible to entice the different humans to be part of their c& from posing as humans to mind control, the two forces battle each other, with humans as the unwitting pawns and final stakes in the war.
